A different kind of chat
ChatGPT answers are becoming more visual. On October 7, 2026, OpenAI announced a wider rollout of GPT-6 in ChatGPT alongside Intelligent UI, a feature that can combine written answers with charts, buttons, forms and other interactive elements.
Instead of receiving only a long explanation, you may get something you can explore. A comparison can appear side by side, while a lesson can include a diagram with controls. OpenAI says ordinary text answers will still be used when they make more sense.
Small tools inside a conversation
One interesting part is the ability to create a tool for an immediate task. OpenAI gives examples such as a savings calculator, a dinner bill splitter and a game that works within the conversation. These are examples of what the new experience is designed to support, not a promise that every request will produce a perfect tool.
For beginners, this could make some questions easier to understand. Imagine changing the number of dinner guests and seeing quantities adjust, or exploring a topic by changing an input. The useful change is that you can interact with parts of an answer instead of asking a new question for every adjustment.
Who gets the update?
OpenAI’s release notes say the rollout was set to begin with Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise on October 7, then expand to Free and Go starting October 8. Enterprise access depends on administrator settings. A rollout announcement does not guarantee the feature has already reached every account.
Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise use GPT-6 Sol for this experience, while Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna. Intelligent UI is available from Instant through Extra High reasoning; the Pro reasoning option continues to use GPT-6 Astra and does not support Intelligent UI. A Pro subscription and the Pro reasoning option are not the same thing.
The announcement applies to ChatGPT’s Chat experience. OpenAI said the models powering Work and Codex were not changing as part of this release. That distinction matters if you use different parts of ChatGPT for different jobs.
A useful first experiment
Request a simple comparison or a bill splitter, then check its numbers yourself. Try changing one input and confirm that totals and labels still make sense. A clear-looking chart is a presentation choice, not proof that the underlying answer is correct.
My take
The most useful part of this update is making complicated answers easier to explore. I would judge it by whether the visuals save time and explain something clearly, rather than by how impressive they look.
