First, prepare a consistent look
- Use a clear, evenly lit adult portrait of yourself. If it is someone else’s photo, take their permission. If full-body proportions are important, a normal-distance body reference can also help.
- Attach the original photo in the image-editing AI tool you have. Start with Prompt 1; check access and generation cost first.
- If you like the first result, attach both the original face reference and the approved outfit image for the next pose. Write: original photo = identity; generated photo = outfit/scene only.

How to make a photo Reel in Instagram Edits
Edits is Instagram’s separate video-editing app. Meta describes a frame-accurate timeline, clip-level editing and watermark-free export. See the official introduction and the 2026 update. Below is a practical edit plan; we did not test this guide hands-on on a phone. Buttons and available controls may be different in your app version or device.
- Setup: install or update Edits from the official App Store/Google Play and sign in with your Instagram account. Give access only to the photos you need.
- Project: start a new project in the Projects area and import the saved portraits. Keep this order: over-shoulder → blue door → diya → seated → twirl → terrace.
- Framing: keep the preview vertical 9:16. Check the fit/crop of each photo; in full-look shots, keep the head, hands and lehenga hem inside the frame. Exporting blurry upscaled photos in 4K does not bring back real detail.
- Timing: select a photo in the timeline and adjust its duration/end edges. To start, keep each photo for about 1.5–2 seconds. Six photos will make a slideshow of roughly 9–12 seconds; this is a suggested timing, not a viral formula.
- Cuts: keep simple direct cuts first. You do not need to copy the black intro from the reference—start right away with your strongest portrait. Add an optional short dissolve only when it gives time to understand the scene.
- Optional motion: if position/scale keyframe control is available on the selected photo, set normal framing at the start and a very light zoom at the end. Keep the face and outfit safe inside the frame. If you do not find the control, use static photos with clean cuts; AI animation is not required.
- Music: choose usable/licensed audio. Edit with the audio available in Edits, or export without sound and add a permitted track in the Instagram Reel composer. Permissions for your account/region and for commercial use may be different. Listen to the beat and adjust the cuts by hand—do not treat auto-sync as perfect.
- Export: watch the preview, then use Export. For this photo slideshow, the available HD/1080p and 30fps are a practical starting choice. 4K or 60fps is not required. Play the saved file in your gallery and check sharpness, framing and audio; then share it on Instagram.
Final check: Before you post
- In every photo, do the face, neck and body proportions look believable together?
- Are the black outfit, maroon dupatta and jewellery reasonably consistent from shot to shot?
- Are there any obvious distortions in the fingers on the diya/tray, the feet in the twirl, or the embroidery?
- Does the export have black gaps, a cropped face or an abrupt audio ending?
- Disclose AI-assisted images in the caption. Do not repost the creator’s downloaded Reel or an unlicensed soundtrack.
Common questions
Will Edits generate the photos? In this workflow, the portraits are made in an image-editing tool; Edits arranges and exports them. Optional AI effects are not treated as a required step in this tutorial.
Will the exact face stay the same? There is no guarantee. Start with the same original references, a simple pose and light that matches the scene, then compare each result. Also see the face correction guide.
